STORIES FROM GIFTED STUDENTS IN MAINE

Our Team

Entrepreneurs Rosalyn and Madison have formed a charity called “Two Cats on a Post” to raise money for the animals at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society (GAHS). Fueled by a passion for helping animals, the girls have raised money through yard sales and talking with local business owners. Recently, the girls delivered the funds to GAHS and met with the director to see what more they could do to help. In addition, they visited with the many adoptable pets on location. A website is in progress as well as letters to the editor. They continue to build this charity with a mission to “keep feeding pets and keep getting pets good homes.” To find out more about this charity, contact these ladies at TwoCatsonaPost.Kittens@gmail.com.

Whether she meets with the administration of her school to create changes to the curriculum to include the history of minorities or whether she consults with local service agency to educate peers, Elina is an advocate for positive change.
Through research and her work with Mock Trial and Project Citizen, she gained new insight into substance use and abuse in her community and desired to effectuate change through education and awareness. This led her to work collaboratively with local Pir2Peer Community Recovery Center to bring education regarding substance use to her school. Together, they are working to develop meetings and group activities that offer fun, exciting, and healthy alternatives to the road of substance use, both at the Center and in the schools.
